In some parts of México today, the horny toad, or tepayatzin (teh-pah-YAT-zine), is considered a messenger of the Earth Mother. If one crosses your path, that means it has something to tell you. To really hear its message, just listen closely.

"Tepayatzin" is a bilingual comic zine (English-Spanish) that features some philosophy and poetry from the Nahua culture of central México. The Nahua people are the largest indigenous ethnic group in México and they speak the Nahuatl language, which is the most widely spoken language in the country after Spanish.
